Overview

Hers Is Ours is a Collective raising awareness on gender discrimination via art. Our focuses are: Women's rights Arts and creativity Challenging stereotypes/ Gender discrimination Gender based violence Our project was incubated in May 2019 in Agra, India, with the aim of making a series of four short documentaries "From Violence Against Women to Healing through Art". While the medium of our first step is cinema, the larger vision is about an international platform launching artistic projects to talk about gender equality. We are using art as our medium, as it is about touching rather than teaching people. We started this collective to reinforce a movement of sisterhood and togetherness beyond our differences. Our collective's members being artists and activists of different nationalities, ages and genders, we want to use this advantage to underline togetherness as the main tool to fight the social norms based on domination and exclusion. The first project of our Collective is the documentary Our Odyssey is Red, based on the lives of the Krantikaris (revolutionaries in Hindi), a group of daughters of sex workers from Kranti, a Mumbai based NGO. Kranti offers these girls and young women a space to deal with their traumas and stigmatization against them, such that they've become leaders of social change. Being in the post-production phase of our documentary, we are now looking for funds in order to cover the expenses related to film-making.
