Overview

Hadassah Hart Energy(HHE) was born out of the desire to have a private locally driven project that is sustainable and contributes effectively to the energy sector in Zambia thereby positively impacting the Country’s economic growth. According to the Energy Regulation Board, only an average of 25% of the Zambian population has access to electricity. In the rural areas, the level of access is less than 5% as at 2022. The Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) states that the demand for electricity is growing at an average three percent year on year. Given the important role electricity plays in socio-economic development, Hadassah Hart Energy has been incorporated with a resolve to contribute to the sector while ensuring that a sustainable growth plan is supported by our activities. HHE intends to develop a 50MW solar project to be located in Kawambwa district of Luapula Province where the shareholders hold statutory title to approximately 250 Ha of land bordering the Lumangwe waterfalls on Kalungwishi river. Luapula Province has a population of 1,514,011 (source: 2022 ZSA census report), with a total area size of 50,567 sq.km most of which is currently without power. The province has a promising manufacturing and mining industry, yet limited due to lack of electricity. According to data obtained from the Zambian Ministry of mines In 2020, Zambia exported $19.2M in Manganese Ore, making it the 15th largest exporter of Manganese Ore in the world. This is despite the under development of the manganese mining sector in Zambia largely due to constraints around reliable power supply to enable establishment of processing facilities in the Luapula province which is also host to some of the highest manganese grades in the world averaging 40 to 50%. The socio-economic impact of this creates the demand for increased access to electricity as a driver of development. The opportunity exists to create a hybrid of solar and a run-off river hydro power project. However solely solar
