Overview

"Isola dei Cavoli" Island has an area of 43 ha but is a true jewel rom the naturalistic point of view. Less than a km from Capo Carbonara it can be reached by boat from the port of Villasimius. In its coasts there are small inlets surrounded by granite boulders with a white sand bottom. The waters are home to schools of dolphins and barracudas. On the bottom rocks form depressions and cracks, habitats of lobsters, capons, ravens, snappers, shrimps, sea bream, amberjacks, white breams and mullets. With the goal of a sustainable development and the environmental preservation of this small natural “diamond” in mind, in order to provide the island with basic utilities and services, the "Capo Carbonara" Marine Protected Area has launched a project to implement, for the first time in the world, the environmental concept named "Green Hyland". The concept requires that the energy used on the site must be produced 100% from renewable sources and all the utilities and services on the site must be provided using only zero-emission technologies. Thanks to the hydrogen photovoltaic power will fulfil continuously the power demand with, or without the Sun. Water for all services will be provided through an air humidity condensation system, known as AWG (Atmospheric Water Generator). Waste water will be purified by a reverse osmosis system. Mobility to and from the Island will be provided by a Fuel Cell Electrical Boat (FCEB) powered with Hydrogen. The FCEB will cut off in one single step two Issues: Water Pollution and Acoustic Pollution of the sea. A hydrogen refilling station will provide the fuel for the FCEB, first worldwide installation. Large adoption of integrated solutions using hydrogen as a power accumulator will enable the usage of Zero Emission technologies for all utilities and services, for Home, Business and all mankind modified environments. This approach so called “Total Zero” is the only way to follow for the mankind to survive.
