Overview
Green Course (GC) is the largest activist environmental volunteer organization in Israel. Established in 1997, GC leads public campaigns for environmental policy change, generating bottom-uppressure through community organizing and participatory civic engagement to dealwith the most pressing environmental needs in the Israeli reality. Our mission is to inspire the public to take an active role in changing environmental policies, through education for leadership and active civic involvement. GC campaigns are led by 300 activists and volunteers, students and citizens of all ages who believe in taking personal responsibility for our society and environment, and in our power to change the reality. The beating heart of ourorganization is the Environmental Leadership Program, providing our volunteerstheoretical and on-the-job tools for community organizing and for leadingeffective public campaigns. Alumni hold prominent roles as Members of theParliament, heads of NGOs and leaders in public, education, and businesssectors.
