Overview

Grace Lutheran College, established 1978, is a community based, Christian, co-educational secondary school based in Rothwell and Caboolture. The College is committed to the holistic development of young people in an environment where they feel happy, valued and can develop naturally. Grace caters for a wide range of students providing over 50 subject and 100 co-curricular options; well-regarded academic enrichment and learning support programs; quality teachers and courses, and Christ-centred and caring pastoral care. A strong academic focus is maintained with 80% of Grace students studying subjects that lead to university, 20% above the average in the region. A Vocational Education Department coordinates a range of certificate courses, school-based traineeships and access to state-of-the-art Trades Skills Centre. Grace has a fine reputation in sport, performing arts, visual arts, film and TV, debating and other co-curricular activities. Grace fields 90 co-curricular sporting teams who often achieve at the highest level while over 20 performing arts ensembles perform and tour regularly. A great strength of the College is its emphasis on pastoral care, whereby students are known as individuals and nurtured in community. A highlight is the College's Outdoor Education program in Year 10 where students spend four weeks at Googa, a former forestry camp near Blackbutt. Self-reliance, challenge and personal spiritual development are three main aims. Through Googa, camps at most year levels, Christian Studies, Career and Work Experience programs and a range of service opportunities, students are encouraged to identify and develop their gifts but not for themselves alone. They are also encouraged to make a worthwhile contribution to local and global communities. Grace students are known in the community for their character, friendliness and employability, displaying The Grace Way with grit, growth and grace.
