Overview

In the United States and in our world, there have been millions of people fighting for change. As a result, our country has undergone serious transformation that have largely been responsible for redefining our country. As the Black Lives Matter movement transpired this summer, thousands of influential individuals worldwide spoke up and demanded change from our local and national leaders who were forced to listen. As our country continues to face this sudden and essential reconstruction of social interaction, it is imperative for all people, especially student-athletes, to be a voice for both nationwide change and a voice for those who do not have the platform that we have. As student-athletes, we have noticed that athletes nationwide have finally begun to voice their concerns and demand change. In an attempt to expand and enlarge student-athletes' platform, we have decided to create a podcast company: GPN Media and Entertainment where we will oversee various podcasts hosted by University of Michigan student-athletes. As a company, we will reshape how athletes around the country utilize their platforms as national role models by sharing their beliefs and opinions on sport, social issues, lifestyle, fashion, culture, food, politics, and music. In order to be voices for change, we have decided to give back to Michigan Medicine C.S. Mott Children’s Hospital. All proceeds will go directly to the University of Michigan Adaptive & Inclusive Sports Experience (UMAISE). This program aims to enhance the physical, social and emotional development for people with disabilities by providing quality, local and low-cost sports and recreation opportunities throughout the lifespan. We want to give student-athletes a powerful platform to continue to incentivize social change but, more importantly, give back to our local community to inspire children to become the next generation of voices for change.
