The Goethe-Institut is the Federal Republic of Germany’s cultural institute, active worldwide. We promote the study of German abroad and encourage international cultural exchange. The Goethe-Institut Czech Republic in Prague coordinates the work of the cultural institutes in Slovakia, Poland, Hungary, Slovenia, Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. In these countries, the Goethe-Institut has a dense network of complementary organisations and institutions for the promotion of German language and culture and for information about Germany. The Goethe-Institut organises cultural programmes in all areas. Our library provides information on contemporary cultural and social life in Germany. It offers extensive book and media collections for anyone who is interested in Germany or who wants to learn or teach German.
