Overview
The Centre for law and society is the focal point for socio-legal research at National Law University, Gujarat. The GNLU Centre for Law and Society carries out its functions through two wings: the Law and Society Wing and the Legal Services Committee. A. The Law and Society wing facilitates inter-disciplinary and multi-disciplinary research and study on law and society, and law and legal institutions. The wing organises events such as the GNLU Essay Competition on Law and Society, the Young Women Social Entrepreneurship Development Programme, the Staying Alive Project, special guest lectures on disability rights, LGBT rights etc. B. The Legal Services Committee acts as a 'community legal clinic' and focuses on, inter alia, the deprivation of government benefits, eviction and issues of domestic violence. The Legal Aid Cell of this wing provides assistance through a variety of methods, including traditional casework, summary advice, self-help, community legal education, community development and policy reform initiatives. The LSC has adopted four villages of Gandhinagar District where we run legal aid clinics and undertake legal Literacy, educational activities and awareness programmes. The GCLS BLOG is an initiative by GCLS, GNLU Gandhinagar, to foster discussion in the interface of law and society. To be notified about latest blog posts, stay tuned to this page.
