Giving Africa works alongside a local NGO, AEAD, and their community, supporting them to improve access to relevant, quality education for the pupils at Bethel School, Gourcy, Burkina Faso. We strive to help them achieve financial independence and self-sufficiency, which can be replicated at scale. Our belief is that everybody has the ability to learn and make a real difference, given the opportunity. Our vision is an Africa whose children have the opportunity to realise their true potential through education, and to live healthy, prosperous lives. Our mission is to create learning environments that empower children to lift themselves, their family and their community out of poverty We plan to develop an existing secondary school into a ‘model of excellence’ for secondary school education in Burkina Faso. Our aim is to create a learning environment and curriculum that: Increases access by increasing capacity, reducing class sizes and reducing other barriers to access (gender barriers, poverty etc) Increases quality by improving the environment, providing resources and facilities (inc. good quality teachers) Improves relevance with vocational training in crafts and trades to ensure employability and inclusion of vital life skills education
