Overview

Give a Buck is a fundraising initiative to benefit Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast. Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast provides therapeutic riding for children and adults with physical, developmental or emotional disabilities. Give a Buck asks horse owners to "give a buck" with every months board to support this very special mission. Give a Buck provides boarders at stables across Vero Beach with a self-addressed envelope made out to Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast. We ask boarders to consider giving as little as a dollar or as much as you can on a monthly basis when making your regular board payment. All of the money raised goes directly to the charity. You mail it to them. Since 1992, Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast have provided therapeutic horseback riding for children and adults who are challenged by autism, Down Syndrome, Cerebral Palsy, Spina bifida, strokes, Diabetes and other conditions affecting muscles and speech. Many of the riders are unable to control their arms and legs. The gentle horses, most of them in their 20's, seem to understand their rules; patiently waiting for disabled riders. Children and adults lives are improved almost immediately once they get into the saddle, for a little while at least, they are in control of their lives. It's no secret that boarding and caring for horses is expensive and Special Equestrians of the Treasure Coast operated at a substantial deficit, and desperately needs our help. If you're like us and are inspired by the power of horses to heal bodies, minds, and spirits, kindly consider giving a small amount each month in return for all of the joy that horses have brought to your life. Give a Buck was founded by a horse owner and a professional trainer who want to give back and encourage others to do so. Sissy DeMaria and Heather McCall
