Overview

ganko is the Milan-based practice founded in 2017 by Nicolà Munaretto and Guido Tesio, following previous experiences in Brussels, Lausanne, Beijing and Basel. The work of the office spans the realms of urban planning, architecture, interiors and exhibition design. ganko is also actively involved in research, publication and education activities, currently at the École Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne and the Accademia di Architettura di Mendrisio. ganko understands architecture as the creative negotiation between desires and possibilities, subject and context, and not as the self-determined creation of objects. Within given budgets, desiderata and constraints, the office engages positively with all sorts of projects, seeking original solutions from the spatial organization to the material execution. Unapologetically modern, ganko is after an architecture that is as precise in its presence as it is open in its experience.
