Overview

The Foundation for Climate Change Action (FOCCA) is a non-profit organization with the mission to support action towards a low-carbon, climate-resilient and sustainable community and, a at a larger scale, a sustainable planet. Our goals are to promote climate change mitigation and adaptation actions, foster sustainable development and build resilience of our communities through the dissemination of knowledge, capacity building, training and education. To achieve this goal we aim to encourage the application of innovate technologies such as artificial intelligence, machine learning and remote sensing. These tools will allow for the acceleration of information availability and facilitate the implementation and monitoring of climate efforts. We aim to diminish gap in knowledge and data availability on climate change mitigation and adaptation results while as increasing knowledge sharing, raising awareness and enhancing education at different levels on climate change vulnerabilities and impacts through innovative, even disruptive technologies. We aim to support education and knowledge sharing on climate change impacts and current vulnerabilities on specific particularly vulnerable groups in the Santa Barbara county area , such as Hispanic/Latino, Native American, Pacific Islander, woman, and destitute children; and in specific sectors such as fisheries, agriculture, forestry, and vulnerable ecosystems among others. We are also committed to support activities in the Latin American and Caribbean (LAC) region through climate change education, knowledge sharing and data gathering through artificial intelligence.
