Overview

The Fortress Specialty Cellulose Mill is located in Thurso Québec, 150 kilometers west of Montréal and is situated on approximately 800 acres of land. The mill employs over 300 workers and has a production capacity of ~ 173,500 tonnes (ADMT) of specialty cellulose, also known as dissolving pulp. Fortress Specialty Cellulose pulp sales are primarily to the rayon/viscose industry with a geographic focus on markets in Asia. The mill operates a 24 MW cogeneration facility that produces sustainable green energy from biomass, supplying power to Hydro Quebec. The Fortress Specialty Cellulose Mill is subsidiary of Canadian based, Fortress Global Enterprises Inc. (TSX:FGE) www.fortressge.com In 2018 Fortress Global Enterprises launched a strategic plan to become one of the world leaders in demonstrating and commercializing leading technologies for conversion of hemicellulose to advanced sustainable bioproducts. In March 2018 Fortress Global Enterprises acquired S2G Biochemicals Inc., a Vancouver-based developer of C5 sugar conversion technologies developed jointly with Mondelēz, one of the world’s largest snack food companies. Fortress is in the process of commissioning the construction of a demonstration plant to produce xylitol and other bioproducts at its Fortress Specialty Cellulose Mill.
