Overview

Our Mission: For Frankie is a FREE laundry service for either someone who is unable to afford it or does not have the resources to do so. We want to give everyone a chance to feel good about themselves. Having clean clothes is just a start. This project is for all walks of life. Homeless, single parents, elderly, you name it. Along with free laundry, For Frankie provides undergarments such as socks and underwear for those who are in need of such. While waiting for the laundry to be done, we also provide snacks and drinks in the meantime. Why: The people that are in need of this service, are our neighbors. It is our job to lend helping hands to those in need and either help them in their situation or help them into a new life. Everybody deserves a chance and I want to develop relationships with those who are in need and have them know that people care about them. I believe with all my heart that amazing conversations will happen between the community with just these few hours of serving each other. A few examples: A single mother is unable to do her and her children's laundry because they are living off of one income. An elderly man might not be physically capable of doing his laundry anymore. A homeless family can't afford the laundry detergent or the fee for the machine. A teenager just got kicked out of his living situation and has an interview the next day, but has no clean clothes. Who is Frankie? Frankie is a young girl that I met while working at a thrift store here in Greenville, SC. She'd come in once a week to buy a new outfit and little did I know, she was buying new clothes in order to throw out the clothes she had on her back. She had no way of washing them. One morning I decided that I was going to do something about this. I went to her and said, “Hey, my name is Adahlia. I have an idea. What if you pick an outfit out, I'll buy it, and you give me the clothes you are wearing and I will wash them. Then, you can come back tomorrow and get them.”
