Overview
The First Nations Film and Video Festival, Inc. is a grassroots, without walls non-profit organization dedicated to promoting Native American film and video makers of all skill levels and providing them a venue for their works. The First Nations Film and Video Festival also advocates for and celebrates the works of Native American film and video that break racial stereotypes and promotes awareness of contemporary Native American issues, society and representation. The organizations was registered as a non-profit corporation in August of 2011 and is currently under review for tax-exempt 501c3 status through a Community Artists Assistance grant from the Department of Cultural Affairs and Special Events, a department of the City of Chicago.
