Supported by Xining Municipal People’s Government (Qinghai Province, China) and China Film Critics Society, the FIRST International Film Festival Xining aims to discover and exhibit emerging films all across the globe, in order to bring film festival to the public sphere and into the study of cinema itself, and to raise the social artistic awareness. FIRST originates from the intention to promote emerging filmmakers and their films; encourages courageous filmmakers to become trailblazers in the film industry.It is a repository, arena and laboratory for debut film and emerging cinema, where adventurers, zealots and holdouts for filmmaking are strongly embraced and encouraged. Herein you can sense the history, value and glory of a film festival. FIRST explores all the political, social, disciplinary, sexual and geographical boundaries that once prevent comprehension, with a belief that film is about, and for everything.
