Overview

FilmAid Kenya is a development and humanitarian organization that harnesses the power of film and digital media to inform, educate and inspire. Through video, radio, print, SMS and digital media campaigns, FilmAid Kenya brings life-saving information to communities in need, and provides skills and livelihood opportunities to displaced communities living in and around Kenya’s remote refugee camps. FilmAid Kenya designs produces and implements communications campaigns on critical social issues based on our Theory-Of-Change, an integration of access, creativity and participation. Our unique methodology drives individual and community change, ensuring positive social impact through partnerships with refugee communities and other stakeholders. Communication is a critical component of international development and humanitarian operations. From post-crisis situations in refugee camps, to promoting integration and peaceful co-existence, FilmAid Kenya produces and distributes media content targeted at behavior change amongst refugee and local communities. FilmAid’s work falls into the three integrated components: Media Content, Community Outreach and Skills Development. FilmAid Kenya is able to reach over 400,000 people in refugee camps and urban areas every year. Additionally, FilmAid Kenya’s 12-month Media Training courses empower the next generation of storytellers with the skills they need to advocate for themselves, their community and their right to a future filled with hope. It is only by leveraging the talent and tenacity of refugee communities themselves that FilmAid Kenya is able to Project Hope, and Change Lives.
