Overview

For the past 13 years Film Spring Open Foundation has been focused on comprehensive audiovisual education providing workshops, courses and training programmes that follow the newest technological advancements and offer modern approach to filmmaking. The foundation was established by Prof. Sławomir Idziak, an Oscar nominated cinematographer especially known for Kieslowski’s Double Life of Veronique and Three colours: Blue as well as Gattaca, Black Hawk Down, King Arthur, Harry Potter and The Order of Phoenix. Nominated to BAFTA and Cesar. We advocate and implement in practice the new model of film production which allows to make films better and cheaper. We have also built a mobile film studio -Cinebus. Each year we organize the international, interdisciplinary Film Spring Workshop, awarded for "The best professional training programme" by the Polish Film Institute. The Film Spring Workshop is a 10-day film training which gathers about 300 filmmakers from all over the world and offers them future-oriented education, including lectures and workshops from award-winning top professionals (also Oscar winners), screenings of the selected, awarded films and discussions with their makers, one-to-one tutorials, learning and testing new technologies. Most importantly, participants, with the support of tutors, can develop their film projects using state-of-the-art equipment provided by the world's top brands - ourTechnology Partners. Film Spring Open tutors are top professionals. They included Oscar winners: Natalie Portman, Juliette Binoche, Neil Corbould, Mia Bays, Zbigniew Rybczyński, Allan Starski, Ewa Puszczyńska, and many other outstanding filmmakers such as Hasraf Dullul, Małgorzata Szumowska, Detlev Buck, Magnus Von Horn, Lech Majewski, Krzysztof Krauze, Joanna Kos-Krauze, Marcel Łoziński, Hanna Polak, Marcin Koszałka, Tomasz Wasilewski, Agnieszka Smoczyńska, Bodo Kox, Bogdan Dziworski, Tomasz Bagiński, Daniele Siragusano, Maciej Pieprzyca.
