Festival International d'Opéra Baroque et Romantique de Beaune

Performing Arts

Overview

Since 1983 Anne Blanchard, founder and artistic director of the Beaune International Baroque Music Festival, has developed: a pioneering artistic policy by rediscovering Baroque opera on period instruments focused on high quality productions, the reconstruction and interpretation of unpublished works according to the latest musicological research; a conductor policy inviting most renowned conductors as well as the young generation; a policy to identify new vocal talents by organizing auditions in France and Europe; a production and coproduction policy by setting up a European broadcast network with other festivals and opera houses, a recording policy of its events with over 20 albums coproduced with famous record companies. The Beaune International Baroque Music Festival is regarded within the European lyric festival movement as the reference Baroque Festival (“the Salzburg of Baroque music” according to Diapason magazine). It has taken part in the “Baroque movement revolution” by broadcasting Baroque music to a new audience in France and Europe.
