Overview

The State Foundation for Family Health (FESF-SUS) officially established in May 2009, in Bahia, is a fully public, intermunicipal body, part of the indirect administration of the State, non-profit, of collective interest and endowed with legal personality under law private. This model arises from the combination of two types of public institutions of the Brazilian administration: autarchies and state-owned companies. FESF-SUS is an innovative and consistent proposal to advance the strengthening of SUS and the development of an inter-federative management model, operating in all regions of Bahia in the Family Health Strategy as an institution of the Unified Health System System, fulfilling an essential function for the shared management of health services integrated with the federal entities. This innovative model presents itself as a legal-administrative and health solution for the development of the Family Health Strategy in the State of Bahia and provides agility and security for managers, users, workers as a democratic vehicle for the realization of the fundamental human right to health.
