Overview
The Falls Church Homeless Shelter, a 501(C)3 organization, is a hypothermia prevention shelter that began operations in January 1996. The Shelter was created to address the critical need for emergency housing in the community, especially during the winter months. In partnership with New Hope Housing, the Shelter provides warm beds, meals, and counseling to people experiencing homelessness in Falls Church from November 15 to March 31st, and offers year round case management for Shelter residents. We take pride in being a grassroots organization. Over 200 volunteers each year, including a volunteer Board of Directors, lend their support by providing meals, supplies, donations, and staffing the Shelter. Approximately 80% of the funds required to run the Shelter come from private sources, including individuals, faith communities, businesses, schools, and foundations.
