Overview

Faces of Dubai is a documentary tribute to the city of Dubai by Yasir Saeed, launched in April 2012, featuring residents expressing their affection and association with this unique city. My aim is to establish a platform to document the perspectives on life in this city of dreams through portraits that capture the essence of people, their feelings about the city, and why it is special to them. Faces of Dubai was born out of a strong desire to express pride over my own association with Dubai, and share with the world the joy this city brings to its residents. I am constantly amazed at Dubai’s achievements under the leadership of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai. The project is my humble contribution and sincere effort to promote Dubai, the modern, multicultural and resilient city for what it is; a tolerant, welcoming cultural melting pot with a drive to excel and be at the forefront, among the developed nations of the world. I am grateful to all who have participated in the project throughout the years for taking time out of their busy schedules to meet me, express their views, and pose for a portrait. Participation in the project is open to Dubai residents of any age, nationality or cultural background. The only condition is that people wishing to participate must share my love and passion for this city, and are willing to express it publicly. - Yasir Saeed
