“European Cardiomyopathy Center”, within the Monza Hospital, Bucharest, Romania, founded by Dr. Lucian Dorobantu-cardiovascular surgeon-is the only center in Central and Eastern Europe dedicated to the diagnosis, treatment and surgery of obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy / HOCM. Benefiting from the support of Prof. Dr. Paolo Ferrazzi, international expert in the HOCM surgery, the Romanian team approaches an original surgical technique-one-piece septal myectomy, which brings the benefit of preserving the mitral valve, with a success rate of over 98%, one of the highest rate in the world. With an expertise of over 100 cases performed by the Romanian surgical team and over 1000 cases together with the reunited team of the Policlinico di Monza Group, Italy, the center in Romania became in 2016 the 2nd center in Europe, as the number of dedicated surgeries of this pathology.
