Our business is a lunar FBO, selling rocket fuel to the Starship economy. As Artemis leads a new age of space exploration, demand is increasing for lunar missions and lunar return. Bringing rocket fuel from Earth to the Moon’s surface for lunar return is a deeply difficult logistics problem. Our breakthrough is to produce rocket propellant on the lunar surface from locally sourced materials, fulfilling a critical need for the Starship economy. Ethos’s lunar FBO furthers our mission of building a space-based planetary sunshade to reverse global warming. Reflecting 0.5% of the Sun’s radiation away from Earth will reduce global temperatures by 1 degree. While not a complete solution to climate change, solar geoengineering is a preferable alternative to otherwise unmitigated climate change, and will be a policy tool for governments to authorize and fund. The sunshade is too heavy to launch from Earth and will be made with lunar resources. Reducing the cost of lunar travel and establishing a sustainable base of operations on the Moon are the first steps towards making planetary sunshade construction possible.
