I once read in a speech by Mr Olumide Akpata, that ‘lawyers are the elephants in every room’. The frontiers of legal practice have now stretched beyond the traditional court room practice. Indeed, some lawyers now never use a wig till they retire. That may be, but sadly, not every student knows this, because they have never heard of it or because they were never given the opportunity to- being saturated in the main with lectures on public law. In 2019, four students devised an idea for a novel group which would expose students to the secrets of a new reality. The ESUT Business Law Group will in the coming years, refine students into those lawyers that can as well be accountants, engineers, auditors etc; that will dominate corporate/commercial practice. The five departments of the Group- the Energy; Tax; Finance; Dispute Resolution; and IP will be committed to doing what will be known as ‘transfusing the world of commerce ‘.
