Overview

The Emergency Services Public Information Officers of Colorado (ESPIOC) was created in 1986 to enhance relations between the news media and public safety agencies and provide professional support to public information officers in the emergency services field. ESPIOC’s main purpose is to further the professional development of emergency services public information officers throughout the State of Colorado. We meet monthly on the second Thursday of each month, where we come together for networking and a training presentation. Formal membership is limited to PIOs that represent or work closely with emergency service agencies, but we greatly value the chance to network with colleagues in all areas of public information, public relations, communications and public affairs. Our meetings are open to members and guests, as are other events planned by the organization such as media tours, training conferences and “media mixers.” One of the greatest benefits of networking with the ESPIOC is the support you will find from other members. We all take advantage of the knowledge pool in the organization by reaching out with our questions and concerns. If you are interested in joining us, either as a member or as an occasional guest at our events, you can stay up to date by checking the meetings/training schedule.
