Overview

Empirical Academy is a private training provider accredited by the HWSETA. The courses that we offer will open you opportunities to be a part of the Ward based teams organized to achieve improved health outcomes through the Primary Heath Care re-engineering programme. Upon completion of our courses, you will have a chance to get employment or a contract as a volunteer by NGOs, CBOs, and some government departments like the Department of Health and Social Development for home based care work, palliative care, HIV/AIDS counselling, Trauma counselling and psychosocial support related work. In South Africa, HIV/AIDS is no longer an acute and infectious diseases. Due to the massive enrollment of the ART programme, people living with HIV are now living longer and aging, and are also affected by other chronic illnesses which affect the rest of the population. The need for community care workers for palliative care, home based care, trauma and psychosocial support is on the rise. Over 70 000 Community Healthcare Workers will be needed nationally for the managed care model which will focus on the integration of HIV/AIDS management and other chronic diseases, in response to the burden of disease that the country is facing.
