Overview

The European Law Students' Association (ELSA) is the largest independent law students' association in the world. It is a non-political and non-profit-making organisation run by and for students. ELSA is comprised of students and recent graduates who are interested in achieving academic and personal excellence beyond their university studies. The ELSA Birmingham Local Group was founded in September 2018 and is affiliated with the University of Birmingham Guild of Students. We gained the status of an observer group at the NCM Bristol in November 2018. ELSA Birmingham will host the Spring NCM in 2020. ELSA Birmingham aims to provide opportunities for students with a genuine interest in law to learn about other cultures and legal systems in a spirit of critical dialogue and scientific co-operation. Moreover, it hopes to increase the global perspective of law students and provide them with tools that will be useful for their future career. Finally, it tries to encourage law students to participate in various seminars, conferences and academic activities to help them apply their legal knowledge in practice.
