Overview

About Elimu Fanaka Initiative (EFI) Elimu Fanaka Initiative (EFI) is a registered nonprofit organization working with underserved communities in Kenya, providing opportunities for learners in rural public primary schools to access quality education and improve their experience. At Elimu Fanaka, we believe if we can strengthen the education system, we can use it as a tool for community transformation - and thus, EFI views schools as centres for community transformation and education as a tool to bring about the change. Through our work, we engage learners, teachers, and parents to find practical, community-led solutions to create a sustainable and dynamic environment for learners to thrive. We do this through three core focus areas: - Functional Libraries & Technology: designing functional libraries by constructing libraries, providing both new and gently used books to schools, and enhancing computer literacy, programming, and other computer courses for both teachers and learners - Mentorship & Capacity Building: mentorship and character development for learners; and capacity building for teachers and parents - Arts & Culture: increasing exposure to arts and culture by engaging learners in and out of school with activities that help them understand their environment, build their personality and develop their cognitive skills Elimu Fanaka is building bridges to create sustainable and positive transformation in communities through improving education standards.
