Overview

Taught entirely in English, Economics and Political Science (EPS) is a unique two-year master’s program integrating advanced analytical tools in economics, political science and quantitative methods. An international student body from around the world and with different academic backgrounds ensures lively exchanges and a constant interdisciplinary dialogue. Participants can take advantage of double degree and mobility programmes with leading international universities. Students in EPS will acquire a deep knowledge of the major international economic policy issues and will be trained to become key players and decision makers in global businesses, international organizations and governmental agencies and bodies. EPS is an ‘interclasse’ (i.e. interdisciplinary) course. This means that it allows students to graduate either in Economics or in Political Science, since the programme meets the requirements of both the Classe di Laurea in Economics and the Classe di Laurea in Political Science, as established by the Italian Ministry of Education, Universities and Research. Students will be asked to choose one Classe di Laurea when they first enroll in the programme and to confirm or modify their option next year. There is no difference in the study plan and the exams to take. The choice will only affect the students’ eligibility to apply to open competitions on the Italian territory, when they graduate. In fact, some public competitions could require the Classe di Laurea in Economics, other public competitions could require the Classe di Laurea in Political Science. The choice of the Classe di Laurea has no impact on the validity and possible recognition of the EPS title abroad. EPS is a joint effort of two departments of the University of Milan, which were both awarded the “Department of Excellence” status by the Italian Ministry of Education, University and Research (MIUR) in 2018.
