EAPA-SA affiliated as a Branch of EAPA International in 1997 to provide leadership, strategic direction, professional development and oversight of Employee Assistance practice in South Africa through administration of standards and ethics for practice. EAPA-SA’s Egoli chapter has been in operation since EAPA-SA launched. It was the first chapter launched and it was started with all the members based in Johannesburg. Egoli has a membership database of 173, with an even split between ‘in-house’ EAP Practitioners and service providers. Within their specific geographical location the chapter’s members are predominantly from the public sector, followed by state owned enterprises and a growing private sector and private practice base respectively.
