Overview
The Duke College Advising Corps places exceptional college graduates from all fields of study in central North Carolina high schools as near-peer college advisers to lead low-income, first-generation, and underrepresented students to college. It is a full-time salaried position that includes health benefits. Advisers serve the entire school year, with the possibility of extending their term of service for an additional year. Upon completion of term of service, Advisers are eligible to receive a monetary award for loan repayment or future graduate education. We seek advisers who are friendly, approachable, self-motivated, creative, enthusiastic, and passionate about increasing access to higher education. Our college advisers learn about themselves and the communities they serve all while working to increase college access for high school students and families in North Carolina. Applicants must also be committed to serving underrepresented students and be able to work well with diverse populations and are willing to serve our partner high schools.
