Overview

Drawing Projects UK is a public-facing centre for drawing and contemporary art in Trowbridge, Wiltshire and delivers research and public engagement through the curation and presentation of public exhibitions of national and international significance supported by education and events programmes and dedicated resources that include the galleries, project spaces, education and meeting rooms, creative studios and artists’ residencies along with other associated facilities. Drawing Projects UK was first established in 2009 to deliver the Jerwood Drawing Prize annual exhibition project, now known as the Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize, operating on a non-profit basis, and established its centre at Bridge House for the benefit of local, national, and international audiences and participants. Drawing Projects UK provides a space for drawing – where you can see, make and discuss drawing - and aims to promote, develop and build a community through drawing in local, regional, national and international contexts. Programmes include on and off-site exhibitions of drawing and contemporary art, drawing sessions, drawing discussions, projects, workshops, creative and curatorial residencies. These include the monthly Girl Friday Breakfast Club and Poetry Stanza meetings as well as the Open to Draw scheme for drawing residencies and projects. annual Trinity Buoy Wharf Drawing Prize open exhibition and associated publications and public programmes. Built in 1929, Bridge House, is a landmark building on Stallard Street adjacent to Trowbridge railway station, originally opened as the headquarters of the Wiltshire Working Men's Conservative Benefit Society. It houses our office, three dedicated gallery spaces, The Drawing Centre Project Space, meeting rooms, creative workspaces and studios, Studio Café. We are currently developing a second centre for Drawing Projects UK in Dundee in Scotland in the former Music Centre originally built as the Bell Street UP Church & Public Hall.
