1.5 million people are infected with the Coronavirus these days and many more are at risk and can’t leave their houses. They can’t buy their groceries and get medicines as they used to in their normal life routine. Door2Dor - literally “door to generation” - is a volunteering technological project. Our message to these people is: Grampa please stay home, we will take care of you. We have a location-based algorithm that helps us match between volunteers and people who need help, thanks to an app we are developing. This makes us a “casual” volunteering group, easy and conveniently suited to the Y generation. So far we have helped 6000 people and have 7000 volunteers all around Isreal. We have 120 people who work with us in 6 different departments; developers, marketing, operations and more. All of them are volunteers. We have the help of “Birthright Excel”. Thanks to them, we are spreading our service in order to fight the virus all around the world. We have Israeli authority permission to keep helping under all circumstances. We have an Extra value: People continue helping the same person after the first encounter by creating a special bonding. This is one of our greatest impacts. People are constantly saying they can’t imagine what they would have done without us. A common question is “ why are you doing this”? The volunteers answer that this just feels like the right to do these days. We built Door2Dor for these moments and hope to help many more people in Israel, and all around the world.
