Law & Ethics in a Datafied World It is no secret that big data and artificial intelligence are in the process of revolutionizing the economy. Enormous industries such as health care, manufacturing, transportation and criminal justice will become more intelligent, more efficient, and more accurate. Many needless harms and inefficiencies of the past that were ultimately rooted in a lack of data will be greatly diminished. But like all revolutions, this one will have both winners and losers. Because of this, we work directly with businesses and other clients to show how thoughtful design of the revolution will allow the promised benefits while minimizing the harms. How is such design possible? We believe that two of the most important tools for designing this revolution are bodies of knowledge that have been with us for millennia – principles of law, and principles of ethics.
