The Department of Physics at Stockholm university is a strong research department, with focus on pure research. The research is both theoretical and experimental within almost all branches of physics. There are seven research divisions at the department; Cosmology, Particle Astrophysics and Strings, Chemical Physics, Atomic Physics, Condensed Matter and Quantum Optic, Elementary Particle Physics, Instrumentation Physics and Medical Radiation Physics. The department also offers teaching, covering a wide range of topics within the field of physics all the way up to postgraduate level.
