DDCE - DuPont Danisco Cellulosic Ethanol

Biotechnology Research

Overview

DDCE believes that an economy that is based on renewable raw materials will be more sustainable than one based on non-renewable materials. Especially when it comes to carbon, the building block of the liquid energy and chemicals industries. In a carbon constrained world, one of the surest ways to reduce the carbon footprint of industrial production is to use renewable carbon from green plants to replace fossil carbon from beneath the earth's crust. This transformation is called the biobased economy. We are at the dawn of that economy and believe that fulfilling its promise will bring sustainable future prosperity to all countries and peoples of the world. Of course, a sustainable biobased economy will not happen unless it deliberately pursued. DDCE will use all available tools to assure that we minimize the life cycle footprint across our whole supply chain. We will also be developing a rigorous stakeholder engagement process to validate our sustainability efforts and to assure that we are aware of all the impacts of our business activities. A biobased economy will contribute to a low carbon economy, to energy independence, to reinvigorated rural economies and to new, green jobs in both advanced and developing economies.
