The CSIRO and DataDot Technology Ltd worked together in a highly successful joint venture to create the innovative, award winning covert security technology, DataTraceID®. DataTraceID Pty Ltd is now a wholly owned subsidiary of DataDot Technology Ltd. The CSIRO is an Australian Government statutory authority and one of the world’s leading research institutes. DataDot Technology Ltd is a global leader in identification technology, providing proven protection in asset-based product identification and authentication technology. DataTraceID® leads the way in authentication and brand protection solution for consumer products, industrial assets and bulk products. The system is based on a combined “lock-and-key” system comprising taggant formulations (the locks) and specifically configured detection devices (the keys). Differing from other taggants technologies, the DataTraceID® detection device is a sensitive, rapid-response, handheld reader that authenticates spectral fingerprints in detection windows defined by pre-programmed wavelength and intensity channels. This allows DataTraceID® to offer tailor made solutions with regards to the highest security levels and the number of required fingerprints. DataTraceID® is very complex and once embedded cannot be removed, masked or altered. Once part of the manufacturing process, the DataTrace forensic marker can be authenticated by audit teams, consumers, retailers, distributors, customs border control and logistics firms for the life of the product and beyond.
