Why is Cyber Security a team sport? Because our opposition are using teams - Cross Functional Teams of Network Engineers, Software Engineers and penetration specialists - to devise targeted attacks. We need to cross-train our own specialists to create “virtual cross-functional teams” that can even the playing field. What we do to create Cross Functional Security teams: 1. Cross-train existing IT specialists (software developers, testers, Database Admins, etc) in Cyber Security. 2. Introduce Agile practices to link your Security team to the extended “Virtual Team” that they work with. 3. Develop cyber security tools that can help “bridge the knowledge gap”. 4. Supply Security specialists who can do the training and build the team.
