Curassow Amazon Lodge

Overview

The Curassow Amazon Lodge is located 110 kilometers (68 miles) upstream, south of Iquitos City on the banks of the Yanayacu River. Our lodge is a three-hour boat trip from Iquitos City and is situated in a pristine rainforest in close proximity to the Tamshiyacu Tahuayo Community Reserve (ACRCTT). According to Chicago’s Field Museum (USA) This reserve holds some of the most biologically diverse ecosystems in the whole Amazon Rainforest. Protected and located in this national reserve are primates, mammals, amphibians, reptiles, birds and trees. We are located on a small tributary of the Amazon, in close proximity to pristine rainforest and Oxbow Lakes, guaranteeing you a trip rich in numerous wildlife experiences. Our excursions, led by our professional naturalists, are offered in both daylight and night. This variety provides our guests with the best opportunities to witness wildlife in their natural habitat. Curassow Amazon Lodge can be visited all year round. Each season has its benefits: during the low-water season when the water level is low (July through December) jungle hikes are available and there are fewer mosquitoes. With the high-water season, the water level is high (January through June), navigation throughout the Amazon jungle on small boats is possible. During both seasons you will have the opportunity to witness wildlife in their natural habitat.
