Overview

The Consultative Implementation & Monitoring Council's main objective is to ensure dialogue, through the ongoing consultation processes, is sustained between government, private sector and the community. The CIMC Secretariat is based in Port Moresby and administered by the Institute of National Affairs (INA), a private non-profit research institute with a tradition of alternative advice to that being given by the public service. SECTORAL COMMITTEES WITHIN CIMC Currently there are 9 sectoral committees operating under CIMC covering most of the development issues and challenges affecting PNG. 1) Law & Order Sectoral Committee 2) Transport & Infrastructure Sectoral Committee 3) Informal Economy Sectoral Committee 4) Agriculture and Natural Resources Sectoral Committee 5) Commerce and Services Sectoral Committee 6) Family & Sexual Violence Action Committee (FSVAC) 7) Health and Population Sectoral Committee 8) Education and Training Sectoral Committee 9) Budget Tracking Sectoral Committee now Governance and Service Delivery COMPOSITION OF THE CIMC COUNCIL Chairperson: Minister for National Planning & Monitoring Government: Secretaries of Departments of Prime Minister and NEC, Finance, Treasury, National Planning and Monitoring, Personal Management, Justice and Attorney General, Agriculture and Livestock, Trade, Commerce & Industry, Governor of the Bank of Papua New Guinea, Investment Promotion Authority Managing Director and the Urban Local Level Government Business Sector: Business Council of PNG, Rural Industries Council, PNG Chamber of Commerce and Industry, PNG Chamber of Mines and Petroleum, Manufacturer's Council of PNG and the Institute of National Affairs Non-Government Sector: PNG Council of Churches, Trade Union Congress, National Council of Women, Conservation Melanesia, Young Women Christian Association and Eco-Forestry.
