Overview

I am excited to introduce a new, innovative approach to poverty alleviation in our community. ReBuild is a holistic approach that involves the members of the community in every step. The mission - To provide systemic change and solutions , both economic and humanitarian, to permanently lift people out of poverty. History has shown that leading with homes and jobs – the rest will come: people, education, infrastructure, wellness and safety – and thereby improving communities from the foundations and creating self-sustainability. The main goal of ReBuild is to provide solutions and systemic change that can be replicated anywhere in the world to lift people out of poverty. ReBuild has chosen to focus first on the community where we live, Dallas County, Texas. South Dallas comprises 60 percent of the City of Dallas’ land mass and is home to 45 percent of the Dallas County population—yet accounts for only 15 percent of the city’s property tax base. The Dallas MSA has consistently ranked in the top 1 or 2 position for highest growth rate over the past half-decade; but most of that growth has occurred north of Dallas and now the frontiers of the north Dallas expansion is closer to the southern border of Oklahoma than it is to Dallas. What is more, as the population is expected to grow 33% to reach 9 million by 2035, the importance of revitalizing the southern Dallas County cities has become even more critical. We view the holistic structure of ReBuild as a good fit to address this need for affordable housing, jobs and community services in south Dallas.
