The story of Communities In Schools (CIS) began in 1972 here in Atlanta. In the span of 47 years, Communities In Schools has become the nation’s leading dropout prevention organization, and now serves nearly 1.5 million children annually in elementary, middle and high schools across the nation. We are proud to be a CIS affiliate, and as an independent 501(c)3 organization, we maintain our own governing body and finances. Locally, Communities In Schools of Atlanta (CIS of Atlanta) empowered nearly 38,000 students during the current school year, and over 4,500 of those students received intensive individualized support. We are currently serving four school districts; Atlanta Public Schools, Fulton County, DeKalb County and Clayton County schools. #AllinforKids
