Overview

Colab is the first purpose-built material library located in Dubai Design District (d3). A social business venture that functions primarily as a material library and inspiration and learning center, Colab aims to elevate design across the region by offering a platform to showcase the latest materials and design trends from across the globe whilst highlighting excellence in regional design as well. As the UAE’s first material library, Colab also serves as a gallery, event and activation space, and networking hub in its bid to bring the entire design community together. We will host regular seminars, networking events, and workshops as part of our regular programming. We live in a material world - materials in all forms, shapes, and sizes make up our daily lives. Whilst we intimately interact with them every day, we hardly think about many of the materials we come into contact with. Responsible design for a better world implies that we must strive to better understand the materials we work with given that materials of the past and present hold the keys to our future. Colab, in partnership with Material ConneXions, the leading materials-driven design authority and partner of the most innovative brands in the world, will also host the first INNOVATION WALLS in the UAE. Curated by Material ConneXion's team of experts, the Innovation Walls are a physical manifestation of Material ConneXion's consulting expertise, tangible material samples, and cross-industry insight, incorporating a range of materials on the cutting edge of technology and sustainability.
