COGEN Portugal (Portuguese Association for the Energy Efficiency and Promotion of Cogeneration), is a non-profit entity, that was founded in 1994. The objective is to promote the rational use of energy through combined heat and power systems or through the decentralized energy production, whatever the primary energy source is used. COGEN Portugal is recognized by the Political Power and Public Administration as the organization who represents cogeneration interests in Portugal. COGEN Portugal members includes several companies and single persons, that are cogenerators (mainly industrial companies), engineers and consultants, equipment manufacturers /suppliers and gas and oil companies and others. The Association is a national member of COGEN Europe, which has enabled it to have privileged and quick access to information about cogeneration developments at a European level.
