Overview

There are not many people CEO’s, Executive Directors or Fundraising Managers can turn to for help. Uncertainty about trust and confidentiality, covert in-house competition and the slipperiness of the corporate ladder often make it hard for a leader to turn to a colleague about issues that may concern their own or peers’ performance or tenure. Perhaps even more common, however, is simply the wish to consult a fresh mind, someone who brings no investment or position of their own, an outsider who is not involved with the organisation or its culture. An independent coach can reflect ideas, evoke solutions and support their implementation in a way that few insiders can ever do. In our opinion, work has taken over too much of too many people’s lives at a cost to their personal life. Too many executives are living to work rather than working to live. Stress, broken marriages, neglected children and poor health are far more widespread than most professionals dare to acknowledge. Coaching is a gentle way of raising awareness of the imbalances that exist, and of helping the coachee to find a way that will benefit their work and their play. This will often involve creating a vision of the future or an ideal to aspire toward, as opposed to struggling to survive by avoiding problems. Coaching is unlocking a person’s potential to maximise their own performance. It is helping them to learn rather than teaching them. Our clients are finding that regular coaching sessions (either fortnightly or monthly) are having a transformational impact on the quality of their performance at work and their relationships at home. BENEFITS OF COACHING * Clearer understanding of own style, communication style and descision making preferences * Understanding of your triggers, stresses and how to move forward * Ability to receive and deliver feedback * Improved relationships with family, friends and colleagues * Increase in self assurance and motivation
