Civics Nation breaks the partisan divide with a wide range of fact-based news and opinion articles that connect current events to civics lessons on the U.S. Constitution, U.S. history, and our government. I started Civics Nation after I started seeing polls showing how misinformed most Americans are about basic facts -- thinking crime is way up when it's way down, or thinking immigrants are 1/3 of the nation when they're only 13%, or thinking we spend 35% of the Federal budget on Foreign Aid, but it's less than 1%, or believing Muslims are 17% of America when they are 1%. These false perceptions have been seeded into the American mind for decades, and President Trump was finally the first candidate to come along and take advantage of all of those collective misperceptions. The base-line myths were laid down decades ago: "government is always the problem, never the solution" and the "welfare queen" myth worked in tandem to corrupt the American mind and soul while enriching the richest.
