Overview

So you know where your coffee and chocolate come from, but do you know where your spices began Supply chains for products that used to be a mystery have opened up over the years and people are more aware of how these crops are grown and how they reach Western consumers. At Cinnamon Tree Organics, we bring that same transparency to the spice trade. One of the world’s most ancient trades are about to be disrupted! We work with rural, small-scale farmers in the South Asian island of Sri Lanka (formerly, Ceylon) to grow the best that nature can offer, adding nothing and never transforming the natural crops — other than to dry them under the tropical sun and grind by hand in small batches. That sounds like a lot of buzzwords, but honestly, these sustainable farming methods have been passed on through generations! Our work helps these rural farmers work more efficiently and reach international markets. Our crops are always fresh — harvested within one harvest year — and we always know which farm each of our products came from and exactly when the spices were last attached to trees. We don’t work with middlemen, which means we can pay our farmers more than the market average. We also use a portion of our profits to cook hot meals for homeless shelters around the DMV area. We believe everyone deserves fresh, healthy and delicious food no matter where they live.
