Christ Episcopal School Rockville MD

Primary and Secondary Education

Overview

Christ Episcopal School (CES), located in historic, downtown Rockville, offers children, ages two years old through 8th grade, a unique educational experience. Our program combines the challenge of a rigorous academic curriculum with the support and teachings of a caring community that looks for opportunities to serve the broader community. Our goal is to foster the development of the whole child, resulting in students with "minds to learn, hearts to love and hands to serve." For over 50 years, CES has maintained its commitment to helping each student develop a solid foundation in the basic skills of reading, writing, and mathematics. More recently, the curriculum has expanded with a focus on science, technology, engineering and the requisite skills for effective project- and team-based learning. In addition, CES offers strong programming in the fine arts, including visual and performing arts. Students participate in physical education five days a week and use Rockville as their gymnasium. Middle school students take classes from local, professional athletes in sports such as fencing, boxing and gymnastics. Class sizes are small. Individual attention, high standards, and academic excellence are the norm. At CES, we are committed to developing talent, achieving potential, and creating lifelong learners. In a spirit of inclusiveness, CES welcomes and respects students and families of all faith backgrounds, while maintaining an intentionally Episcopalian environment. In an era when moral and spiritual values are avoided in most schools, our dedicated teachers and staff step beyond academics to nurture the development of ethical standards and faith through a unique character education program especially developed for Christ Episcopal School. Our students abide by an honor code, and they maintain high standards of conduct.
