Overview

CGEn is a Federally funded national genome sequencing and analysis network, comprised of The Centre for Applied Genomics in Toronto, the Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre in Vancouver, and the McGill University Innovation Centre in Montreal. Established in 2014 with over $90M investment by the Federal government, through the Canadian Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and partners. Our Vision To sustain Canada’s international leadership in genomics by providing breakthroughs in our knowledge of the molecular defects responsible for many important afflictions that strongly impact public health, and accelerate translation of these advances into improved health care and benefits to the community. CGEn will support hundreds of Canadian research scientists, across all disciplines of biology, in undertaking internationally competitive research based around genomics, bring new public and private sector partners forward, opening strategic opportunities and leveraging other investments. Our Mission To enable Canadian science in basic and clinical research, through characterization of genome sequences and promote this era of genome science research in Canada by building an unprecedented resource to enhance the national capacity for sequencing and informatics analysis which will position Canada at the forefront of genomics research in a long-term, sustainable manner.
